April is here!
Don’t be April fooled; we are reopening soon! We are just holding back until we have confirmation from the Government that the roadmap out of lockdown will be progressing to the next stage. On Monday 5th April, we will hopefully be able to confirm that all of our centres will be reopening on 12th April. This newsletter will cover some frequently asked questions so that you can prepare to get climbing again:
- Do I need to book? When will booking go live?
- Will you be running instructed sessions?
- What Covid-19 measures will be in place?
- What is happening with my membership?
- When will BethWall Green open?
- A reminder of our January 2021 update to our opening times and prices
- Our April membership sale
- Will there be any fresh blocs set?
Do I need to book? When will booking go live?
As before, one of our key safety measures is reducing the capacity of our centres to allow for social distancing. Here is a quick guide to our capacities and whether you need to book:
We will set the booking system live as soon as we receive confirmation from the Government, hopefully on April 5th around 7pm.
CroyWall, HarroWall and RavensWall have sufficient capacities to not require booking in advance and you will be able to check the capacity widgets on each of their websites to see how busy the centres are before you head over.
CanaryWall has increased in size during lockdown with the addition of a new training room, but due to its low capacity, we require booking in advance for evenings and weekends.
Our ever-popular VauxWall centres require booking at all times to avoid disappointment. Once the extension of VauxWall West is complete, we will increase the capacity.
We will keep these capacities under regular review to ensure your safety. We have removed the £1 booking fee for members and punch card holders, but we have added a penalty for misuse, so please ensure you cancel sessions well in advance if your circumstances change.

Will you be running instructed sessions?
There are still limitations on household mixing for adults, so we will only be offering private sessions for single households with a maximum of four participants. The content of these sessions is flexible and the instructor will adapt the session according to your needs and aspirations. At HarroWall these sessions can be run on our Krazy Climb facility.
Junior clubs & HarroWall NIBAS sessions with reduced participants will also return in April. Our aim is to get back to a fuller instruction programme with the next step of the Government roadmap on 17th May.
If we are able to proceed with reopening as planned, you will be able to book these sessions from 6th April. If you can’t find a session to suit your needs, we recommend contacting our coaching partner Catalyst Climbing who operate a range of sessions and custom bookings at all our centres.
What Covid-19 measures will be in place?
We are not out of the woods yet and many of you will not have received your vaccinations by the time we reopen. It’s as important as ever to ensure we work together to stay safe and reduce transmission of the virus. We will be implementing the same measures we had in place when we closed in December:
- Sessions are limited to two hours at booked centres and three hours at non-booked centres to reduce the amount of interactions and to give fair access while our capacity is lower;
- You must wear a mask in all areas of the centre unless you are climbing. If your feet are on the ground, your mask must be on your face;
- All of our centres are card payment only (a measure we intend to keep);
- You must sanitise your hands when you arrive, regularly throughout your session and before you leave;
- We will be maximising ventilation with the doors kept open at all of our centres and our extraction fans on full;
- One way systems will be in use and the tighter areas of our centres will have recommended capacities;
- You must check in and check out for your session so that we have clear records for Test and Trace; and
- Our team will be performing hourly cleaning of all regular touchpoints.
We hope to ease these measures in line with the Government’s roadmap, but our first priority is your safety and that of our team.
What is happening with my memberhsip?
If you have a recurring or prepaid membership with us, we will be emailing you with full details in the evening of Monday 5th April. A huge thank you to our incredible LCC Heroes who have donated their membership dues throughout Lockdown 3.0 to help us top up our team’s pay to 90%.
BethWall Green Climbing Centre
We are very excited to announce the planned opening for BethWall Green, our seventh London climbing centre. We have two crucial elements being installed on Thursday 8th April: safety matting and our database software. If this all goes smoothly, we will open the completed part of the centre on 12th April.
The completed part contains 40% of the climbing areas and we will operate on a lower capacity and reduced entry fee (at all times) until the remaining 60% of climbing areas open in early May. Booking will be required due to the low capacity and this will go live on Friday 9th April.
All LCC memberships and punch cards can be used at BethWall.
BethWall Green opening times:
Open weekdays: 6am-11pm
Open weekends: 8am-9pm
A reminder of our January 2021 update to opening times and prices
On the 11th December 2020, we announced our 2021 admission prices. You can read this announcement in full by clicking here. Here are the key points:
- Small increase to all prices;
- Changes to peak/off peak times to better reflect our quieter times;
- Removal of the £1 booking fee;
- Reduced upgrade fee for off peak members to climb at peak time; and
- Improved free hot drink perk for members.
Please familiarise yourself with the new off peak times for access at our lowest rates during our quietest times.
Our April membership sale

Your membership gives you seven London centres conveniently located near Tube stations, secure cycle parking, an average of 250 fresh blocs per week and lots of membership perks, all served with a welcoming smile from our team.
From 12th April until the end of the month, we will be offering discounted six-month and twelve-month memberships. This will be even better than our recurring membership price and everyone will be able to take advantage of it, including our current members. Full details will go live on 12th April.
Will there be any fresh blocs set?
There will be at least one new area reset at each of our centres since we closed on 19th December 2020. This creates a fun mix of old projects, familiar favourites, and fresh challenges for you to get stuck into.
Download the Kaya Climbing App to see all the climbs and plan you first sessions back, you will get notified of news sets and the team will be uploading beta videos this week to get you psyched.
Our full rolling turnover of setting will begin again at the start of May.
