LCC Covid Closure Update 1pm Wednesday 18th March

Dear LCC London Climbers

As announced last night, we regretfully have to inform you that our London Centres will be closed from Thursday 19th March.  Covid19 is a terrible challenge to everyone and our thoughts and sympathies go out to all those affected in so many ways.

We want to thank all our customers who have supported us over the years and who have helped create such a vibrant community atmosphere at LCC.  You are our oxygen and reason to be!  This is a pause and not a stop.  We have had a good winter and are in reasonable financial shape.  We are going to try to retain all our staff for as long as we can and they will be gainfully employed in a massive spring clean and refurbishment task.  We hope to welcome you back to new shiny centres in the not-too-distant future!

Please note that all memberships will be frozen until we re-open.  We will not be doing any membership billing while we are closed.  Should you wish to directly support us during this difficult time by continuing to be billed each month we would be forever grateful – please email [email protected] to explicitly express this commitment.

We will credit all the cost of any closed days once fully back open unless you choose to forego this credit, you don’t need to make this decision now, we will contact you when we fully reopen.  Any income during our closed period will be used to support our staff and we will deliver additional rewards to all those who have stayed with us when we are able.

To be crystal clear if you have already paid for March, our default action is for all closed days to be credited back to our members as extra days once we fully reopen including the days from 19th-31st March.

Climbing is so important for so many people’s physical and mental health and well-being, even more so during these dark times.  We want to provide what we can to help you through this, within the constraints of social distancing.  Many leisure facilities are staying open and we plan to trial some limited access from Sunday, where entry numbers will be kept to a bare minimum.  It will be easy to climb and stay well in excess of 2m from others and to use the gym equipment (free weights, pull-up bars, yoga mats etc).  We will use a booking system with allocated time slots.  This will be available initially to members and punchcard holders at a fixed low price per session, with any income again used to keep our wonderful team together.  More details on this soon.

This a time of rapid flux and this plan may be subject to change.

We really appreciate all and any support from our customers during these challenging times.

Thank you to each and every one of you who has climbed with us over the last 6 years and let’s stick together during this challenging time.

Together we, as a community, can and will get through this.

Love and Light to each of you from all of the LCC London Team.
